The Independent is a weekly community newspaper with 20,000 readers in: - Torrance County (Moriarty, Estancia, Willard, Mountainair, Manzano Torreon and Tajique)
- Southern Santa Fe County (Edgewood, Stanley, Cedar Grove, Madrid and Cerrillos) and
- Eastern Bernalillo County (the East Mountain area including Sandia Park, Cedar Crest, Tijeras, Escobosa, Chilili, Carnuel and Monticello).
The Independent has been published in Edgewood since 1999. It is locally owned and managed. The newspaper is officially designated for publication of legal notices in all three counties. The Independent is distributed at more than 175 locations in the three counties as well as in Albuquerque. Seventy percent of the residents of the Tricounty area read The Independent. The Independent is one of the most distinguished weeklies in New Mexico, having received 25 statewide and national awards in the past five years. |
